DOJ Warns of Active Imposter Scam Targeting Older Americans
The Department of Justice alerted the public to an imposter scam involving individuals claiming to represent the DOJ contacting members of the public in an effort to obtain personal information from older Americans by posing as investigators. Scammers may also leave a voicemail with a return phone number, which typically directs victims to a recorded menu that matches the recorded menu for the department’s main phone number.
Please be advised that although this phone call may sound legitimate, it is an attempt to collect your personally identifiable information. If you receive such a phone call, do not return the call or provide any information in response.
