Important Information Regarding Overdraft Protection

An overdraft occurs when you do not have enough money in your account to cover a transaction, but we pay it anyway. We can cover your overdrafts in two different ways:

  1. We have standard overdraft practices that come with your account.
  2. We offer overdraft protection plans, such as a link to a savings or a line of credit, which may be less expensive than our standard overdraft practices. If you would like to learn more about these options, contact your local branch or call Customer Support at 1-800-981-5474.

What are the standard overdraft practices that come with my account?

We do authorize and pay overdrafts for the following types of transactions:

  • Checks and other transactions made using your checking account number
  • Automatic bill payments

We do not authorize and pay overdrafts for the following types of transactions unless you ask us to, by changing the ATM/Debit Card Overdraft Setting to a “Yes”:

  • ATM transactions
  • One-time debit card transactions*

*One-time debit card transactions are transactions that are not initiated as reoccurring payments.

It is important to note that overdraft payments are not guaranteed. This means that we do not always authorize the payment of any type of transaction.  If we do not authorize an overdraft, your transaction will be declined.

What fees will I be charged if Kish Bank pays my overdraft?

Under our standard overdraft practices:

  • We will charge you a fee* each time we pay an overdraft.
  • There is no limit on the total fees we can charge you for overdrawing your account.

*For a complete fee schedule, please visit any Kish Bank office

What if I want Kish Bank to authorize and pay overdrafts on my ATM and one-time debit card transactions?

Change the ATM/Debit Card Overdraft Setting indicator to a “Yes,” which is located in the Customer Service section of OnLine Banking.
