Charitable Support Stories
For 13 years, the Teach Children to Save program has connected
knowledgeable bankers with students to deliver lessons on the
importance of saving. This year, the Teach Children to Save
sponsor, ABA Education Foundation, initiated the Million Child
Challenge and called on banks to reach 1 million young people with
Teach Children to Save lessons. Kish Bank happily accepted
the challenge!
This Spring, over 30 Kish Bank employees reached out to 3,500
students at 18 schools across Centre, Mifflin, and Huntingdon
Counties to teach children the fundamentals of money. The
presentations included games and activities about the concept of
saving, how interest makes money grow, how to budget, and
determining needs and wants.
"Studies show that kids aren't learning the skills they need to
make smart financial decisions as adults," said William P. Hayes,
President and CEO of Kish Bank. "Communities and schools
teach other life skills, such as driving a car, but we don't spend
enough time teaching financial skills. Bankers are in the
schools today to help fill that gap and prepare future customers
for financial success."
